Why Professional Guidance Matters

Don't Risk Rejection With International Documents

If you are planning to work, study, marry, or do business outside of Canada, foreign authorities often require proof that your Canadian documents are genuine. Since Canada joined the Hague Apostille Convention in January 2024, this process has changed significantly.

Navigating the authentication process can be confusing. The rules for validating a document depend entirely on where the document was issued (Federal vs. Provincial) and where you intend to use it.

A mistake in the initial preparation—such as an improper signature on a Power of Attorney or using the wrong type of copy—can lead to immediate rejection by Global Affairs Canada or provincial authorities. Professional guidance ensures your documents are formatted, witnessed, and certified correctly the first time, preventing weeks of administrative delays.

What Is An Apostille?

An Apostille is an official government certificate attached to your original document. It verifies that the signature and seal on the document are authentic, allowing it to be accepted in over 120 countries that are members of the Hague Apostille Convention.

For Convention Countries

You typically only need this one certificate (the Apostille). Simple, streamlined, and recognized in over 120 nations.

For Non-Convention Countries

You may need a two-step process: domestic authentication followed by "legalization" at the foreign country's embassy or consulate.

Important: Our Role

As Notaries, we prepare your documents for this process. The final Apostille certificate is issued by a government "Competent Authority" (e.g., Global Affairs Canada or Official Documents Services in Ontario). We ensure your submission meets their strict requirements.

While the government issues the final certificate, the preparation is where most rejections happen. We ensure your submission package is flawless.

We ensure your statutory declarations and affidavits are signed and sealed exactly as required by the Hague Convention standards.

Certified Copies

We create "Certified True Copies" of your passports or degrees that are legally recognized for the authentication process.
