Self Employed & Start Up Visa

Business Immigration Program:

The Business immigration program is characterized by two main programs, which include The Self-employed Persons Program and the Start-up Visa Program.
  1. Self-employed Program: As the name suggests, the Self-employed Persons Program allows foreign nationals to immigrate to Canada permanently as self-employed individuals. Those who wish to benefit from this program must sufficient experience in cultural activities or athletics and be ready and willing to make a positive contribution to the country’s culture and athletic life.

Eligibility for the Self-employed Persons Program

  • At least have 2 year relevant  experience  (Participated at a world-class level or in cultural events or athletics Or  being a self-employed person in cultural or athletic activities)
  • Be qualified and ready to be self-employed in Canada
  • Fulfill the selection requirements of the programme which is based on :
  • Fulfill medical, security and other requirements (It is important for you and your family members to get a medical test and get police certificates and also prove that you have enough money after you get to Canada to support yourself and your families)
  1. Start-Up Visa: This program is designed for immigrant entrepreneurs who possess the skills and potential to businesses in Canada, compete with other global market leaders, and create numerous employment  opportunities for Canadians.

Eligibility for the Start-up Visa Program:

  1. A Qualifying Business. As such, those applying for this program must hold at least 10% of the voting rights under their shares (up to 5 people can apply as owners). Additionally, applicants and their designated organizations should hold at least 50% of voting rights attached to all shares.
  2. Letter of Support from a Designated Organization: To this effect, applicants must provide a letter of support from designated organizations, which are business groups that are allowed by law to invest in or support deserving start-ups. Upon establishing an agreement with designated organizations, investors seeking start-up visas are granted a letter of support, which they later attach to their applications to demonstrate that they have sufficient support from established Canadian investors.
  • Language Requirement: You must reach the minimum standard of the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5 in either English or French in all four of these areas:
  • speaking
  • reading
  • listening
  • writing
  1. Money to settle: You must have evidence that you have finances to support yourself and your family members as they arrive in Canada. The amount depends on your family’s size. These figures are updated on an annual basis.
